WEATHER FORECAST
Behtar Zindagi Rural IVR Service is providing meteorological information through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) in the rural areas.
The technology is empowering the farmers to have information district wise weather forecasts as well as advice on agricultural inputs on various varieties of crops. These advisories are prepared by agricultural experts. This information is accessible in 18 different regional languages by just dialing number, 55678 from a mobile phone.For the same, Handygo has tied up with The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). IMD provides weather forecasts and advisories in technical language to Handygo. This is translated and recorded into all regional languages and finally disseminated through Handygo’s Behtar Zindagi Rural IVR Service. Information is updated and checked on regular basis. Information on selection of crops and their varieties, proper sowing time, pest and disease control, choosing optimum time and dose of fertilizer, post harvesting advice, irrigation management and other weather based farm decision making is also a part of this service.
The weather advisory section of the “Behtar Zindagi” Rural IVR service is presently available in five states, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana and West Bengal. Handygo Plans are in place to roll out the service to all states in the coming future.
