mKisan

Handygo’s mKisan project was a mobile agriculture value added service funded by GSMA Foundation in support with BMGF (Bill & Millenda Gates Foundation) and USAID. The project was driven with International livestock Research Institute (ILRI), CAB international and Digital Green (DG) as partners.

The two year model project was launched in mid 2012 and ended in June 2014

Climate Change Knowledge Network in Indian Agriculture (CCKN-IA) “GIZ”

Handygo bags the prestigious project on Climate Change Knowledge Network in Indian Agriculture (CCKN-IA) by GIZ, India. Handygo has provided CCKN-IA a layout plan to design its future strategy in the states of Maharashtra / Jharkhand and Orissa. The layout cover details like what information to be disseminated to the target user, requisites to design plans, services designed based on need assessment of the consumers.

The service will be targeting the rural market in India. So with the help of study and data collection, the information will be segregated into immediate information required by these communities and the longer-term information on market trends. ICTs, especially mobile phones, facilitate the provision of both types of information. These programs will support CCKN-IA to plan and design real-time updates like adaptation to climate change to obtain current information and help users gradually accumulate market knowledge and insight.

While Handygo has completed the first phase of the project, we are diversifying our reach, limits and boundaries to next level of project implementation and deliverables i.e. Training, Consultancy, Project Management, H/W & S/W support, Event Management etc. The survey work is conducted for 54 GPs covering 12 Blocks, distributed in 6 Districts. Real time health check-up of network coverage has been conducted in geographically defined pilot districts of CCKN-IA project.

Traning Session

The main aim of conducting this training session for women of Self Help Group was to educate them on the benefits of the mobile phone and generating awareness on rural mobile services. Each and every vertical of Soochna Shakti was presented in details so that women subscribers can actually take fullest advantage of this unique service. Attendees were updated on how they can be benefited by use of this service in the longer run.

This training session was conducted in Tamil Nadu at two different locations - Tiruvannamalai & Vellore in which along with handygo Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Uninor (Telecom Operator) and Hand in Hand (NGO) participated. The vital information on the below mentioned topics was included -

Soochna Shakti

‘Soochna Shakti’ service is committed towards delivering the accurate and reliable information that can be harnessed for rural women empowerment. To ensure the credibility and accuracy of the delivery, the entire content is developed in support with various government bodies, NGOs, universities and private organizations.

It is one-of-its-kinds which provide updated and relevant information to the subscribers. “Soochna Shakti” delivers information, expert advice, news & alerts via an IVR portal supported by SMS which can be accessed by dialing a short code from anywhere. The main feature of the service is that it is handset agnostic. This service is available in three languages - Tamil, English and Hindi. for rural women empowerment. To ensure the credibility and accuracy of the delivery, the entire content is developed in support with various government bodies, NGOs, universities and private organizations.

ASI- Sunehra Pilot Project

Handygo with ASI did a pilot project named Sunehra in Uttar Pradesh of providing service of market price

update to 100 vegetable growers in Agra District. Profiling of farmers is done and on daily basis Madi Bhaav /Market Price of their commodities are sent through SMS.

The objective of the project is to empower farmers by

iKisan

Airtel digital TV, the DTH service by Bharti Airtel, launches iKisaan – a unique interactive service specially designed in Hindi. Targeting the population residing in Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand, the service is a first for rural India. With the launch of iKisaan, Airtel digital TV customers in these states can get real time access to crop prices, prevalent agri-input prices of say seeds, pesticides, weather information and localized farming advisory all in Hindi which is specific to their district. The service was powered by Handygo
